Our special guest on Podcast 4 is Kara Storey.
![]() | Kara is a proud wife to Adam and stay-at-home mama to three children. She has a bachelor's degree in Catholic studies and print journalism, and minor in philosophy, from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Kara is a contributing writer for Family Foundations magazine as well as a blogger for IBelieveinLove.com. Together with Adam, Kara can often be found presenting to engaged couples throughout the Diocese of Des Moines. |
In his book The Power of Silence: Against the Dictatorship of Noise by Robert Cardinal Sarah, he states that silence is the chief means that enables a spirit of prayer. “Developing a taste for prayer,” he confides, “is probably the first and foremost battle of our age.” In this digital age, if our interior cell phone is always busy, how can God call us? “Without silence, there is no prayer; and without prayer, there is no supernatural life in God.”
In Podcast 4, Kara and Lisa chat about the importance of cultivating silence (exterior and interior) in our hearts and homes. Kara opens our conversation with a funny story about how her husband Adam dropped her off at a hermitage in Minnesota … in January … while eight months pregnant … with no bathroom in her sleeping quarters (YIKES!), and will likely leave you feeling calmer, perhaps inspired, and possibly even convicted to explore ways to foster pockets of silence throughout your day.
