The Well FAQs

Is this just for Des Moines women?

We’ve already heard of friends traveling from Minnesota and Nebraska. We also anticipate that the finest women in Des Moines will be there — a great chance to meet more women who see life the way you do! For those traveling from out-of-town and looking for lodging, please know we are working on getting a block of hotel rooms reserved just for you at a reduced rate. Stay tuned for details!

Is this just for Catholic women?

Not at all! Any woman wishing to deepen her friendship with Jesus is welcome. We believe the topics of the day will be relevant for all women of faith. Actually, we would be tickled pink to see an ecumenical group of women gathered together at The Well on July 16.

Is there a schedule?

The day has been carefully planned to include some great speakers, structured conversation, and also some time for unstructured conversation and fun. Check out a glimpse of your day here.

What ages are invited?

All women are welcome! (Must be at least 21 due to happy hour.)

Are children welcome?

This is your day to relax and recharge with friends. Nursing babies under one are welcome, and we’ll have a quiet spot set aside for feeding your little one should you want/need it.

Do I need to bring anything?

Nothing is mandatory for you to bring! We have tried to anticipate everything you might need and enjoy for the day — pitchers of ice water on the tables, notepaper and a pen, delicious meals, and snacks. You may want to bring a sweater to accommodate for air-conditioned areas. And if you have business or “mom cards,” bring them along to make staying in contact with your new friends easier.

How should we dress?

This event is business casual. Grab anything that makes you feel great and wear the heck out it! (And remember comfy shoes for dancing!)

What’s on the menu?

The specific menu has not yet been set, but given our caterer is Baratta’s, we’re anticipating mmm, mmm good!

I have dietary concerns. How can I let someone know?

There will be gluten-free and vegetarian options available. If you have other specific diet or health concerns, let us know so we can explore options.

Do I have to stay the whole time? 11pm is pretty late.

Although 11pm is past most of our bedtimes, we are pretty sure you are going to want to stay the whole time! The last portion of the evening is where we really cut loose (can you say Dance Party, Des Moines style?!), and we would hate for you to leave! But we will let you go home if you need to.

Where do I park?

You have the following no-cost options: Forte’s lot has approximately 80 spots; a parking lot across the street at 3rd and Watson Powell holds more; the metered parking around the perimeter of Forte (always free on Saturday!), and lastly, a 9-story parking garage between 7th and 8th Streets on Grand Avenue.
