Lisa Schmidt - ProfileLisa Schmidt, the founder of The Well, is a wife, mom, friend, and fan of all things Iowa State University. You can frequently find her with a cup of coffee in hand while writing for her blog The Practicing Catholic. Lisa has a foot in two Des Moines parishes; her husband Joel is a deacon at the Basilica of St. John and her school-age children attend school at St. Pius X. Lisa previously worked in city management, and The Well has been a nice outlet to blend her community development skills with her love for the Church.
Rachel Brown - profileRachel Brown loves white boards, new ideas, and recipes. She and her husband, Curtis, are continually tweaking their strategy to raise four boys who love God and one another. Rachel also works on a consulting basis for local nonprofits. The Browns are parishioners at St. Pius X in Urbandale. Those who attend The Well will hear Rachel speak on the fruits of our labor and building "cathedrals."
Maria CampbellMaria Campbell is married to her high school sweetheart and best friend, Mark. She is a homeschooling mama of 2 with a slight obsession for all things natural. When she isn’t passionately sharing her love for Jesus, natural living, essential oils, and homeschooling, Maria enjoys dreaming up new projects for their homestead. The Campbells are lifelong members of All Saints Parish and are currently in Deacon Formation for the Diocese of Des Moines.
Colleen CareyAbove all, Colleen Carey loves the beautiful journey of marriage and family. She is thankful to be married to her wonderful husband Rob for 33 years and her greatest joy has been raising her five children. She is grateful see her family growing with her grandchild while also looking forward to two more on the way soon! The Carey Clan are parishioners at the Basilica of St. John where she also sings in the choir. She enjoys spending time with friends and family sharing good food, good wine, and good conversation, dancing, and gardening. Colleen will be speaking on the special role women have in bringing beauty to the world.
Stacyheadshot 174x174Stacy Halbach, the emcee for The Well, is married to Dr. Matt Halbach and is the lucky mom of 3 energetic boys, 1 sweet daughter, and 2 heaven babies. Although her primary calling is to her husband and kiddos, Stacy loves to be present with all kinds people! She adores her job as youth minister at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Des Moines and enjoys jewelry making, essential oils, running, and wine. The Halbachs are parishioners at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart in Ankeny.
Lori MarsoLori Marso is married to the man of her dreams, Steve, a litigation attorney at Whitfield and Eddy in Des Moines. Lori is also mother to 6 incredible and inspiring children – 4 girls and 2 boys. Along with toting her kiddos around to sports events and music lessons, Lori is also the proud entrepreneur of her new little girls clothing line {pretty little duds} and enjoys being with family, being outdoors, and singing. The Marsos are parishioners at St. Pius X in Urbandale.
Brooke MillerBrooke Miller is blessed to live daily life with her husband, Dane and their two boys. Together they attend Saint Francis of Assisi. As a Baptist, she studied Scripture and traveled down a winding spiritual road where she landed, much to her surprise, in the beautiful Catholic Church! She still can’t get enough of all her treasures and continues her studies at the Augustine Institute, working toward an M.A. in theology. She has a passion for all people to know Jesus personally and within the liturgical community! Brooke will share about the Samaritan woman and the intimate encounter Jesus has with her in John 4.

Molly enjoys a glass of wine (or 2), fashion, and a good book. The Myers family are parishioners at St. Francis of Assisi in West Des Moines. At The Well, Molly will speak on finding God's grace in the midst of trials and suffering. Oh, don't be surprised if you see her trying to spin tunes with the DJ during the dance, too!
Katie Paulson headshotKatie Paulson, another speaker for our summer gathering, seeks a new adventure in each individual she meets. She loves “traveling” through stories, cooking, dancing, and engaging with those the Lord places before her. She works as a dietitian most days of the week and also assists in creating delicious food at a local farm to table restaurant in Des Moines. As the middle child of five girls, she enjoys the challenges and growth that come from the gift of family and the Church.
Sarah SchiltzIn 2005 Sarah Schiltz found herself divorced and on her knees. After regular meetings with Sister Maggie at Sacred Heart, Sarah converted to Catholicism in 2007. Sarah is now happily married to Matthew and they have a beautiful blended family with four amazing children. They are parishioners at Sacred Heart Church in West Des Moines. Sarah enjoys photography, baking, bible studies, and praying the rosary daily. You will likely find Sarah with a camera in hand during The Well – smile pretty!
Emily SchmidEmily Schmid is a classic Iowa farm girl turned southwestern Arizona desert girl turned Iowa city girl. She loves books, movies, knitting, running, and spending time with people! A self-proclaimed "uber-extrovert," Emily loves being with people and sharing her love of the Lord with others. Emily shares the Gospel message most commonly through music as the Music Director at St. Pius X in Urbandale and as a praise and worship leader for various events around the Des Moines Diocese. Emily is excited to share her musical gifts at The Well and lead all in a deeper relationship with their one true love, Jesus Christ.
Kara Storey profile picKara Storey is a stay-at-home mom, wife to Adam, and freelance writer. A native Minnesotan, she's a proud transplant to Des Moines, which she has found to be a beautiful and life-giving place to raise her three children and to grow into her vocation as a mother. A parishioner at the Basilica of St. John, Kara enjoys sports, food, being creative, and meaningful conversations with girlfriends. She is excited to be a part of The Well because she loves to host, plan parties, and believes details make all the difference!
Mary Tice - profile copyMary Tice is grateful to be married to her husband, Andrew, and is a mom to five super awesome kiddos who keep her hopping and growing in sanctification daily. The Tice crew are active parishioners of Christ the King Parish in Des Moines and are often on the move. Mary enjoys coffee, cake donuts, and reading books that help her grow in faith and knowledge. Conversation is one of her favorite past times, including the topics of politics and religion. GASP! The Jubilee Year of Mercy is something Mary is very excited about, however, first and foremost, Mary insists, mercy, must begin with yourself.
Monsignor Frank BognannoMonsignor Frank Bognanno, pastor at Christ the King Parish on Des Moines's south side, will provide the dinner "entertainment," no doubt encouraging and uplifting women who attend The Well.
