The Well’s Organizational Team

Lisa Schmidt, founder of The Well, is wife to Joel, mom to four, and fan of all things Cyclones, Cubs, dark roast coffee, black and white photography, AND the Oxford comma! Lisa previously worked in city management, and The Well has been a nice outlet blending her community development skills with a love for the Church. Lisa has a foot in two Des Moines parishes; Joel is a deacon at the Basilica of St. John and their children attend school at St. Pius X. Lisa enjoys living the liturgical year in her home, praying through praise and worship music, and gathering with friends for coffee and conversation.
Rachel Brown - profileRachel Brown loves white boards, new ideas, and recipes. She and her husband, Curtis, are continually tweaking their strategy to raise four boys who love God and one another. Rachel also works on a consulting basis for local nonprofits. The Browns are parishioners at St. Pius X in Urbandale.
Stacy Halbach, the emcee for The Well, is married to Dr. Matt Halbach and is the lucky mom of 3 energetic boys, 1 sweet daughter, and 2 heaven babies. Although her primary calling is to her husband and kiddos, Stacy loves to be present with all kinds people! She adores her job as youth minister at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Des Moines and enjoys jewelry making, essential oils, running, and wine. The Halbachs are parishioners at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart in Ankeny.
Sara Huegerich's favorite phrase is "choose joy." Sara and her husband, Dan, strive to choose joy every day while raising their five active children. Sara enjoys cheering on her children, being outdoors, reading, and running. Sara is also blessed to work as a nurse at Mercy Hospital. After attending The Well last year, she is honored and humbled to be a part of the team helping to create a wonderful experience and environment for the attendees this year. She and her family attend St. Pius X in Urbandale.
Brooke MillerBrooke Miller is blessed to live daily life with her husband Dane and their two boys. Together they attend St. Francis of Assisi in West Des Moines. As a Baptist, she studied Scripture and traveled down a winding spiritual road where she landed, much to her surprise, in the beautiful Catholic Church! She still can’t get enough of all the treasures and continues her studies at the Augustine Institute, working toward an M.A. in theology. Brooke has a passion for all people to know Jesus personally and within the liturgical community.
©CBHapr2012_Myers04Molly Myers is grateful to be married to her best friend Brad and blessed to be raising 2 little men. She wakes up everyday seeking saint status ... and stumbles all the time! Molly enjoys a glass of wine (or 2), fashion, and a good book. The Myers family are parishioners at St. Francis of Assisi in West Des Moines.
Lisa Sailer, wife to Scott and proud mom of thirteen-year-old twin boys, is doing her best to lead a faith-filled life and pass it onto her boys. Lisa enjoys volunteering at the boys' school, vacationing, sitting poolside soaking up the sun, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and watching sports, singing and music, chocolate, and red wine. The Sailers are active parishioners at St. Francis of Assisi where Lisa is involved with the Adoration committee, Christ Renews His Parish, and ministering to the elderly.
Sarah Schiltz and her husband Matthew are a blended family with four amazing children. Sacred Heart Church is their parish, and they enjoy facilitating the baptism classes there. Sarah's witness involves a divorce with two children, praying on her knees for God’s love and forgiveness. She found a home in Catholicism, the sacraments, and community. Sarah is thrilled to be a part of The Well and looks forward to worshipping with all of you!

Emily Schmid is a classic Iowa farm girl turned southwestern Arizona desert girl turned Iowa city girl. She loves books, movies, knitting, running, and spending time with people! A self-proclaimed "uber-extrovert," Emily loves being with people and sharing her love of the Lord with others. Emily shares the Gospel message most commonly through music as the Music Director at St. Pius X in Urbandale and as a praise and worship leader for various events around the Des Moines Diocese. Emily is excited to share her musical gifts at The Well and lead all in a deeper relationship with their one true love, Jesus Christ.
Meredith Smith returned to Iowa six years ago after having lived in Texas for 12 years. After convincing her 4 Texans they would survive Iowa winters and BBQ in the North, Meredith’s family of six now calls Beaverdale and Holy Trinity Parish home. She finds happiness in her family, beautiful Catholic faith, long runs, family walks to Snookies and La Mie, and checking off items on her list of home improvement projects in her 93 year old home.
Susan Smith, wife to Don and proud mom to Ryan, Rachel, and Kate loves to share her faith with others by teaching and being involved in parish faith formation. Susan considers herself blessed to have stayed home with her children for 10 years. She is now employed as a 4th grade teacher at St. Francis of Assisi School. Susan is living her life's vocation as a mother and teaching children to know and love Jesus. She enjoys interior design, Fixer Upper, gardening, fashion, long walks and spending time with her family. Susan and her family are active members of St. Francis Assisi in West Des Moines.
Kara Storey is proud wife to Adam and stay-at-home mama to a charming boy and two sweet girls. She has a bachelor's degree in Catholic studies and print journalism, and minor in philosophy, from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Kara is a contributing writer for Family Foundations magazine and IBelieveinLove.com, and together with her husband can often be found presenting “God’s Plan for a Joy-filled Marriage” to engaged couples throughout the diocese. A parishioner at the Basilica of St. John, Kara enjoys reading to her kids, hosting dinner parties, watching sports with her family, liturgical living, and meaningful conversations with girlfriends.
Mary Tice - profile copyMary Tice is grateful to be married to her husband, Andrew, and is a mom to five super awesome kiddos who keep her hopping and growing in sanctification daily. The Tice crew are active parishioners of Christ the King Parish in Des Moines and are often on the move. Mary enjoys coffee, cake donuts, and reading books that help her grow in faith and knowledge. Conversation is one of her favorite past times, including the topics of politics and religion. GASP!
Serving as The Well's very own pastry chef, Katie Wallin's fascination with baking began at a very early age – sitting on the counter while a family friend whipped up a cake, watching the mesmerizing ribbons the electric mixer made in the batter. She's been perfecting pizza crust and chocolate chip cookies since her early teens, and is having a blast developing her cake decorating skills. She is happily married to Matt and they have 5 children – 4 energetic boys and one long-awaited girl. They are parishioners at the Basilica of St. John but spend some time at St. Thomas Aquinas as well.
